i need help with my land line phone issues?

Gertrude Darke: Do you have an answering machine hooked up? If you do, a lot of machines are set up to answer in less rings IF there are unheard messages. Thus, no messages pending, will let the phone ring 5 times before recording. If there are messages pending, will answer in 2 or 3 rings. This is a toll saver feature - when you call to check for messages if the phone rings 4 times you know you don't have pending messages so you hang up and don't pay for the call. Whitley Leopold: If you have an answering machine, there are adjustments for number of rings before going to answering machine. If you have voicemail from your phone provider, they can adjust the number of rings before going to voicemail..
