Rhett Kaines: The electric chair was supposed to be a more "humane" form of execution than alternatives like hanging, firing squad, and the guillotine. The goal of all three is to save the state the cost and problems associated with a sentence of life in prison. I think you would be hard pressed to make a case that the effects are always exactly the same for every instance. Conductivity, connections, and just plain human error will allow for differences. I would have to agree that I don't see how the study of criminology relates to the physical details of electrocution or how either one relates to this category of "environment>alternative fuel vehicles."...Show more
